NBMTM Welcomes Bhavana Mutha as Chair of the Board
Washington, DC. January 23, 2022 – The National Board of Medication Therapy Management is pleased to welcome Bhavana Mutha as chair of the organization with effect from January 17, 2022.
She succeeds Christina Bui, Pharm.D., as chair of the board of directors, and will take over the leadership role on the development of the NBMTM certification program.
The NBMTM is very excited Bhavana takes up the role of strategic decision-maker at the NBMTM. Her major initial focus would be to lead all aspects of NBMTM activity that relate to the experience and the development of the board certification medication therapy management specialist exam (BCMTMS™) through the collaboration of pharmacists, health plan executives, academic professionals, and public servants.
“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to serve the people and mission of the NBMTM in this role,” said Bhavana.
In her new role as chair of the board, she will work closely with NBMTM executive leadership and staff, the NBMTM Board of Directors, and national stakeholders.
ABOUT BHAVANA MUTHA
Bhavana Mutha, RPh, BCMTMS, BCMAS, PDTM is an influential pharmacist leader with a mission to increase pharmacists’ involvement in direct patient care and spread the practice of medication therapy management. She is also a pioneer in pharmacogenomics and collaborative practice.
A sought-after speaker, Bhavana has delivered presentations for a diverse range of groups, domestic and international. She has served as a guest speaker for various pharmacy organizations and pharmacy schools worldwide. She hosted the first-ever “RxTEDx,” a TEDx event that exclusively celebrates pharmacists’ contributions to patient care.
Bhavana is the founder of RxCarePath, a company focused on value-based care programs that assist pharmacists in implementing pharmacogenomics into their collaborative care practice. She also serves as Director of Clinical Services for Genetic Technological Innovation (GTI), involving pharmacogenetic applications and antimicrobial stewardship. She also serves as an advisory board member of the nonprofit Pharmacist Moms’ organization, with over 45,000 pharmacists collaborating with Pharmacy Times.
Prior to her current role as chair of the NBMTM Board of Directors, she served as the chair of NBMTM’s examination advisory board. In addition, she contributed to the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) technical expert panel, education advisory council, and CPIQ innovation awards as a judge. Bhavana has over 20 years of experience as a pharmacist and held positions in CHC Health, Curant Health, and Adhere Health.
Bhavana received her B.S. in pharmacy from Government College of Pharmacy in Karad, India. She is board certified in medication therapy management and medical affairs. She is licensed in drug therapy modification (PDTM) in Georgia and sees patients through a collaborative practice agreement.
